Hi
I didn’t received any reply for my previous post. I’ll be very grateful for any advice.
In the same topic I tried two methods indicated in the manual for coupling telemac and tomawac.
unfortunately none works well
I send you the cas file and error msg. May be w’ll you be able to make correction on the steering file to improve the coupling of the two program
thank you for a reply

Hi [name removed],
If I’m not mistaken, your error message is related to your first steering file for offline coupling mode (cas_TEL_SM_coup1.cas), isn’t it?
You should add the keyword for the format of the binary data file 1:
BINARY DATA FILE 1 FORMAT = 'SERAFIN'
For the second steering file related to inline coupling mode, the error should be different.
I hope it helps.

Hi !
Thank you for your reply and help, I made some new tries of coupling telemac with tomawac to see the incidence of waves on tidal currents around a seamount, but I got a lot of hanging up !!
last message

may be an overload of the computer ?
some more questions …
how to read the spectra computed by tomawac on indicated location ? .sel
I tried to use telemac 3D but meet some pb of conversion whith sel2vtk
error message looks like :
Only triangle and wedge elements allowed!
very strange indeed …
thank you for a reply

Hi [name removed],
First, what about your issue for offline coupling? did the addition of BINARY DATA FILE 1 FORMAT solve the problem?
For inline coupling, it seems that you’re using fortran modifications for tomawac, and the segmentation fault error is surely related. Hard to say exactly why without further informations on your case.
To read spectra written by tomawac, you have several possibilities without conversion to vtk format: python or matlab scripts for instance.
In a general way, I advise you to increase the complexity of your case step by step. You can fisrt run tomawac alone and telemac2d alone before coupling them. Then you can adapt your telemac2d case for telemac3d and try the coupling again.
I hope it helps.

Hi [name removed]Many thanks for your reply and advices. I made the both cas file for telemac and Tomawac running alone and that went well … The pb is in the coupling , may be in time step or something else. I’let you informed.
Would you accept to correct my previous modellings with Telemac2D. If you agree, I’ll send you the files and questions with renater on your private mail,
Best regards and thanks

Hi [name removed],
Yes, you can send me your case: leballeur"at"actimar.fr

Hello [name removed],
i´m doing my master thesis about waves in the Black Sea, and i use for this coupled TELEMAC-TOMAWAC for the first time.
I´ll be grateful if you can help me adjust my steering file (TOMAWAC.txt).
Please find attached the case files.
thank you in advance!

Hello,
Please attach the error message too, it will be easier to adjust the steering file if we know what the error is.

yes sure !
Please find attached the error file.

Hello
In fact the answer was in the message error but it was not explicit.
your line VARIABLES FOR 2D GRAPHIC PRINTOUTS is too long.
A steering file must respect Fortran style. no more than 80 column.
But you can write on more lines like this :
VARIABLES FOR 2D GRAPHIC PRINTOUTS = HM0,TM01,TM02,TMOY,TPD,DMOY,SPD, ZF,WD,FX,FY,UX,UY,VX,VY,SXX,SYY,SXY

Hello [name removed],
thanks a lot, this helped me to go forwards.
But, i have another error msg.
i hope you help me further with errors, until i get this run.
i think it is related to the NUMBER OF TIME STEPS command.
It was´nt defined at first. so, i added this command but i still get the same error.
Please find attached the error message.
Thank you in advance!

Hi,
The error message tells you that you didn’t give a value to the keyword “NUMBER OF TIME STEP” in Tomawac steering file.
Have a look at the section 8.2.7 of Tomawac user manual for time management and coupling period.
I hope it helps.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply. i defined already the NUMBER OF TIME STEPS, which i calculated by: Duration/time step = 449280.
But , i still get the same error.
Please find attached case file and the file about the error.

Hi,
You provide it in Telemac-2D steering file, but not in Tomawac steering file.

Hello [name removed],
it doesn´t even compile if the NUMBER OF TIME STEPS is set in the TOMAWAC.txt (see attached).
I´ll appreciate if someone could take time and go through the errors that will come up, and help me start my simulation (it´s for master thesis).
It is about coupled Telemac2d-Tomawac simulation-run. the telemac 2d run succefully.
[name removed]
Hi,
The right keyword is “NUMBER OF TIME STEP”.
Please, have a look to the user manuals and coupling examples.

Thank you!
But, i got another error message “hermes file not opened_err” (see attached).
[name removed]
Hi,
This error occurs because the geometry and boundary conditions files are missing in the tomawac steering file.
Please try first to run both models separately before coupling them.
And have a look at the user manuals and examples.

Thank you!
i´ll look at the user manual, and try to fix it!

Hi [name removed],
the telemac model ran successfully. Now, im trying to fix the coupling between both (tomawac telemac)
the simulation started, but it breaks up on the first time step ( see attached)
Any idea what this error-msg means(CURRENT/WATER LEVEL FILE CANNOT BE USED AS INPUT FILE.) ?
