Issue with the reading of the BEDLOAD BOUNDARIES FILE

Hello.

I try to ask the following question for another user. this is due to some difficulties recently to interact with the website. Apparently a cybersecuriy software watches the website and blocks certain contents.

I am working with Gaia coupled with Telemac 2d and want to use a time-dependant solid discharge boundary condition. The model runs perfectly when I use a ‘PRESCRIBED SOLID DISCHARGE’ and a liquid boundaries file for only the discharge, but I cannot get it to read the [name removed] BOUNDARIES FILE successfully. Depending on whether I include discharge and solid discharge in on file or separate them, I get the following error messages:

  • separate boundary files for liquid and solid discharges (see attachments bc_with_sed_v2.txt & Q_embouchure…txt)
GAIA COUPLED WITH: TELEMAC2D

PLANTE: PROGRAM STOPPED AFTER AN ERROR

RETURNING EXIT CODE: 2
  • same boundary files for liquid and solid discharges (see attachment bc_with_sed.txt). The error says at least one solid discharge should be prescribed, which already the case. The printout “QG(” suggests that there is trouble reading the full text, but the format is the same as for other boundary files I have used (and which worked).

Hello,

it would be helpful to see the file. So far as I know you need for telemac and Gaia extra files. The error message told that in the first column it must be the time which is marked in the file with a “T”.

Some files added afterwards (others are blocked by the website).

Without the steering file I would say there is a line missing according to the message

Hi,

I got the files via email. The problem is a tab between the T and the QG(1) in the [group removed] BOUNDARIES FILE. The fortran code is looking for spaces in order to separate columns. So the T cannot be found.

Avoid using tabs for all ascii-files in Telemac!! This kind of error is always tricky to find.

Editors can change tabs into spaces.

Thank you!

In the end we found that it was important to set PRESCRIBED SOLID DISCHARGES to 0.0 (was set to 1.0 before). And we indeed worked with spaces instead of tabs, as well as a blank line at the end of the prescribed solid discharges text file.

I have attached the working files as example.

I have a similar issue with GAIA not accepting bedload values specified in the liquid boundary file. I am using precompiled version of telemac V8P4 - telemac2d coupled with gaia.

I am modeling sediment transport and siltation in Lower Mississippi River.

1. I have an upstream boundary (# Baton Rouge - Boundary 2) and a downstream boundary (#Donaldsonville - Boundary 1).

1. Used instructions provided in Section 3.1.11 of GAIA manual to setup my inflow boundary (.cli file) for upstream boundary [4 5 5 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 4 0.000 0.000 0.000 40731 2429 # BATONROUGE] and Section 3.1.12 to specify my downstream boundary [5 4 4 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 4 0.000 0.000 0.000 28393 647 # DONALDSONVILLE]

Based on experiences narrated by other users here, checked formatting for my input files (liquid boundary) as well. The model is not accepting the time series inputs. I have tested all combination of fixes, the only time it accepts any bed load input is when I specify it in the cli file as mention in section 3.1.11 of the GAIA user manual. Could someone please help me troubleshoot this?
