modelling bridge piers impacts using USER_DRAGFO

Has anyone modelled the impacts of bridge piers or similar vertical structures without building them into the grid, for example using using the USER_DRAGFO.f or any other way? I did not find much information on this, any suggestion?

I do not know if you have already seen but in the TELEMAC-2D dragforce example (see the example + TELEMAC-2D validation manual), you have an example of how to use USER_DRAGFO subroutine. It is indeed a way to model the effect of structures you do not mesh by modelling a drag force.
