Setting up spatially varied sediment ratio and bed layer thickness

Hello [name removed],

I’m having an issue setting up a case with spatially varied sediment ratio and bed layer thickness (v8p3r0).

There are 4 classes of sediment and 3 layers (excluding the active layer) and the values are different at evey node. I tried setting it up using Matlab by providing the info (ratio of each class and thickness of each bed layer including the active layer) at every node in a slf file based on a stratigraphy data. And then I put this as a continuation file in Gaia, expecting that it’d read in this file and carry the setup.

However, I found that the first time step of the result file (rGaia_test.slf) is not the same as the continuation file I set up (rGaia_setup_strata.slf)—some values are the same but some are off! I enclosed every file I use here. [name removed] and gaia_test_strata.cas are the cas files I used to test the setup.

I know that I can set it up using ‘user_bed_init.f,’ but I don’t know of any good way to use it for my case, as each node has a different value of sed. ratio and bed thickness.

I’d really really appreciate any input… Thank you in advance!
