HI [name removed],
I try to run my tomawac simulation with a wind file I previously generated from a T3D simulation. and I constantly got this error message
OPENING: WACVEB-WIND_L_TECPASCII.dat
ERROR 1016 DURING CALL OF BIEF_OPEN_FILES:OPEN_MESH
ERROR TEXT: HERMES_INVALID_SERAFIN_FILE
when I try to change the keyword from BINARY WINDS FILE to FORMATTED WINDS FILE then I got
ERROR 1023 DURING CALL OF LECDON:GET_MESH_TITLE
ERROR TEXT: UNKNOWN ERROR
GET_MESH_TITLE: BAD FILE FORMAT:
thx for your help

sorry, this is my steering file
here the keywords related to the WIND in my steering file, I used fudaa-prepro to modify my file so the keywords are a bit not well organized (according my way)
WIND GENERATION =3
CONSIDERATION OF A WIND =YES
WINDS FILE FORMAT =3
FORMATTED WINDS FILE = “WIND_L_BINMAGN.t3v”
/BINARY WINDS FILE = ‘WIND_L_TECPASCII.dat’
CAS_TOM_1_LARGE_copy.cas (7.03 KB)
Hi [name removed],
I am not sure why you are using the dat extension for your winds file rather than selafin (output of T3D simulation with winds variables X & Y).
To introduce wind input from TELEMAC2D/3D to TOMAWAC make sure to assign the keyword VARIABLES FOR GRAPHIC PRINTOUTS to ‘X,Y’ in TELEMAC3D steering file to include results of wind along XY then run the simulation and save selafin results file. Add the following keywords in TOMAWAC steering file: (This should work considering your winds file is healthy and you’re using the same mesh in both T3D & TOMAWAC)
CONSIDERATION OF A WIND = YES
STATIONARY WIND = NO
WINDS FILE FORMAT = 3
BINARY WINDS FILE = ‘TELEMAC3D_WIND_results.slf’

hi [name removed],
thank you so much,
my mystake was to extract the wind results in the 2d result file (that’s why you can see .t3v or .dat) and run the tom simulation with this result extracted. now I am running the simulation with the whole 2D-result file which contain not only the wind (X,Y) but also the current and the elevation.
now it is running but a bit too slow, so I am running an other T3D-simulation with only XY as 2Dresults and with no 3D results.
THX AGAIN

Hi [name removed],
I’m glad that it’s working now- in essence it shouldn’t really impact your computation time if you have other variables in your [name removed] file (water elevation, current velocity..etc). However, it doesn’t come as a surprise that considering water level & currents in the simulation increases the computation time drastically (1-way or two-way coupling) so if you’re looking for only wind driven waves without tide-current input, make sure the below keywords are set as follows (uncomment and switch to YES if 1-way coupling is required):
CONSIDERATION OF TIDE = NO
/TIDAL WATER LEVEL FILE FORMAT = 3
/BINARY TIDAL WATER LEVEL FILE = ‘TELEMAC_RESULTS.slf’
CONSIDERATION OF A STATIONARY CURRENT = NO
/CURRENTS FILE FORMAT = 3
/BINARY CURRENTS FILE = ‘TELEMAC_RESULTS.slf’
