Hi all! It never occurred to me to come across the term 'propagation' to describe any of the terms in the Navier-Stokes equations. I seem to only have encountered this word as a synonym for transmission (waves, sound, etc) and only in broad/vague sense.

In the context of the Telemac-2D documentation, in contrast, propagation is pretty recurrent and seems to have a specific meaning. For example, there are references to the propagation-diffusion step in a predictor-corrector scheme, while propagation can also be linearised.

However, I could find no definition nor a set of equations to prop up speculations, whether in the user and reference manuals, in the dico file or on a shallow query on Google.

Could someone, please, point me to a definition of propagation that applies to the Telemac implementation?

Thanks for clarifying this for me.

Best regards,

Giordano Lipari

Hello

you can find detailed explanations about equations and algorithm resolution of Telemac-2D in the principle manual in the rubrique Manual.
The book of JM Hervouet is a more complete reference for all the Telemac system. Try to get it here.

Thanks!

For posterity's sake, propagation = inertia and free-surface gradient seen as forces per unit mass.

On the accessibility of the Principle Manual I will post a message on the Suggestion forum.

What is the rubrique manual by the way?

As you have a free surface, the problem to solve is like a compressible one.
In this case you can have wave propagation.
In the Navier-Stokes equation, the propagation comes from the free surface gradient.
