Dear All,

May be some body already answer that but I could not find it in first-shot. I was wondering if any one had compiled TELEMAC suite of models on mac machines.

Thanks for your reply in advance.

Kind regards,
Sumit

Hello,

Not to our knowledge (at HR Wallingford), or at least not directly. Indeed, if you would like to use TELEMAC on Mac, we recommend you go through Oracle's VirtualBox (used to be Sun's). We have many virtual boxes build this way. Once you have installed the VBox, you need to download and install you (2nd) favourite operating system (say Linux Fedora) and then you are back on Linux from within you Mac (works also any other between Linux/Windows/Mac). The additions of Virtual Box also allows you to use your Linux using all specs of your Mac and share disk space / folders, files, etc. through a local mount (from within your VBox).

Be careful, that if you have SVN - checkout the TELEMAC file from either your Mac or your Linux, the endings and property of the files might not be compatible when your edit these ...

Hope this helps.

Sébastien.

Hi Sumit,

Actually, you're the second one to ask for a MAC configuration / installation.

Have a look here for instance, where advices and a configuration file are given (V6P0 however, which is very similar to the one in V6P1) : www.opentelemac.org/index.php?option=com...34&lang=en&Itemid=89

So, as recommended by Sébastien, a VirtualBox could be a good solution. However, as MAC comes with an Unix shell (csh I think), the configuration / installation should be very close to the Linux one.

Which TELEMAC environment are you using ? Perl (legacy, but highly portable) or Python (more recent but hasn't be tested on Mac).

Best regards,

Thanks a lot Fabien, I have so far always used Python installation on windows machine but have been toying with the idea of changing to mac machines. Hence wanted to know how tough will it be to get TELEMAC going on mac machines.

Kind regards,
Sumit
