Hello,

if
- someone has financial straits or
- is hanging around somewhere in the nature and broods over the famous Malpasset test case and coincidentally has a Raspberry PI in his trouser pocket

here a ca. 35 Euro low cost solution, namely the really cool Raspberry PI 2 :-)

Some specs:
CPU: ARM Cortex-A7 (ARMv7) with 4 cores @900MHz
RAM: 1 GB
OS: Raspbian

The installation of Telemac is straightforward since Raspbian is based on Linux Debian. Configuration: Telemac v7p0r0 + OpenMPI 1.6.5 + Metis 5.1.0

The benchmark:
Malpasset test case from the v7p0r0 examples repository with the steering file: t2d_malpasset-small.cas

Results:
1 core: 482 sec
2 cores: 274 sec
4 cores: 155 sec

Ok, compared to nowadays used Intel and AMD processors the Raspberry is somewhat slow but taking into account the price and especially the power consumption... it consumes only around 2 Watt under heavy load!

A funny next step would be to build a small cluster with some Raspberry PIs.

Best regards,
Clemens

Very cool!
I was wondering when someone would do this... :-)
There are a lot of impressive PI clusters out there.
