Dear WANG,

for manning coefficient (n) you have to indicate that by the keyword :
LAW OF BOTTOM FRICTION : 4
in the case of strickler coeffcient (ks=1/n) you will use this :
LAW OF BOTTOM FRICTION : 3

Howver I never used many roughness values. Dear José Diaz, please can you send to her a steering file of the case where the roughness is defined over 3 or 4 zones (without carrying selafins files, cli file,...just the steering file)
Greetings

Dear José Díaz:
I can't crearly get the method to creat the GEOMETRY FILE contains both geometry and friction imformation, can you send a example such as mourad has suggested, only the steering file,if possible, also the GEOMETRY FILE just contains sevel points to show the form and problem.
And now, I think I just can creat the GEOMETRY FILE that just contains one information( geometry information), and I don't know how to add the friction to it.
Thanks all.

Hi Wang,

Normally, you have to specify 2 KEYWORDS:

LAW OF BOTTOM FRICTION
FRICTION COEFFICIENT FOR THE BOTTOM

But if you have created a BOTTOM FRICTION file attached with BOTTOM file, you can put whatever in the keyword FRICTION COEFFICIENT FOR THE BOTTOM, however you have to select LAW OF BOTTOM FRICTION correctly..

In order words, only keyword LAW OF BOTTOM FRICTION is neccessary.

Attachment is the gemetry I have with different bottom friction zones.

Hope this helps.

Huy

hello,Huy:

I have tried as you suggested, which shown as follows, and I give 0.025 or 0.035 to the points to do exercise, but when I run the program, it shows that 'THE LAW OF BOTTOM PRICTION 4 IS ASKED GIVE THE CORRESPONDING PRICTION COEFICIENT', which wrong with my parameter setting ?

Thanks all for your suggestion and help!

Hi wang,

could you post your eh_geo_z_f.slf?

No.. I mean the file eh_geo_z_f.slf in GEOMETRY keyword. If you post here, I can check for you.

Perhaps, one reason is that in your BOTTOM FRICTION file, you did not specify bottom friction for all areas (just some points).. so that I think you have to include the keyword: FRICTION COEFFICIENT FOR THE BOTTOM in your CAS file (don't /).

Hope this helps

Oh, I'm so sorry that I concentrate on my steering file, forgive me that I could just upload some pictures.
Thanks all!

You should be able to check whether you have put bottom friction for whole area or not? I guess "no" - just some areas or some points... so you have to use the keyword: FRICTION COEFFICIENT FOR THE BOTTOM in your CAS file..

(NB:you can imagine that TELEMAC computes every node in your domain.. my understanding is that it prioritises the numbers given in the bottom friction file)

hello,Huy:

Here I give the data about my BOTTOM FRICTION, isn't mean that all my points have the value, if not, I think the Min value will be 0, that's my understanding about it, is it right?

As your suggestion, if I just give the friction for some points, both GEOMETRY FILE whit friction and FRICTION COEFFICIENT used in my cas file, is that in the points which I give value in GEOMETRY FILE through BOTTOM FRICTION, they use the value in the GEOMETRY FILE, but else, which don't have the value, they use the value given through the key words FRICTION COEFFICIENT = 0.03, is that my understangd right ?
