Dear @a.barton,

Thank you for your work! In order to help you make BK even better, I am currently testing the last version (3.12.23). Today I noticed a bug with Map Object :
  1. Draw a closed line and assign a value different from 0.
  2. Map this closed line to a t3s object.
  3. Nothing happens.

To map this closed line you have to save it as .i2s, remove it from your BK project, then open the .i2s. At this point, if you do a Map Object it will work.

The same issue is happening when importing a .shp. You have to save it as .i2s, remove and reopen it.

I remain at your disposal for further information.

Thanks for reporting this! It is timely because I was about to start creating a new installer; I'll hold off until I investigate further...

Kindly... Alan

I can confirm that there is a fault in this area of Blue Kenue.
  • FYI - a design decision was made a long time ago and, over time, the internal architecture has been changing. This new fault now touches directly on the difference between the original approach and the new approach. It may take me a little bit of time to properly address this fault and the closely related Map Object faults by upgrading the code to the new approach.

There are 27 functions that I'll need to review and potentially upgrade, for both 2D and 3D lines.

I won't be able to test all of them, so I'll be relying on the community to let me know if/when I make a mistake.

After testing the upgrade for one of the reported faults, I can confirm that the upgrade will fix the fault.

I've made all of the more obvious changes. I'll now start preparing an installer for you (and others) to try.

One more important comment...

After upgrading the code, Map Object, in theory, should now be capable of mapping all supported data types. This means that strings should be able to be mapped; which was simply not possible before the upgrade because everything was converted to a "double" (a.k.a. 8-byte floating point number) and then that number was assigned to the new line value or mesh or whatever.

So, for example, you can map from string onto string. Give it a try and let me know how it goes as I haven't tested this new aspect.

Kindly... Alan
