TOPIC: TPXO Results Not Doing Much

So, I am running an analysis with TPXO data, but basically the results are wacky.

The analysis is of a fjard, with the tide flowing in and out.

There just seems to be some fluttering at the corner.

I'm lost as to what's going on and how to make this work. I read quite a few forum topics and tried chasing down the topic in the manual, but it's not quite coming out.

I'm attaching screenshots of the analysis's beginning and end.

I can't get this thing to work.
Why does the water go up the mountains?

Hi
You have a wrong interpretation of the results!
The water doesn't go up the mountains.

In Telemac, the native variables are H, U and V. H is the water depth.
In the result composition, if you ask the free surface, there is an additional computation. Free surface = Bottom + Water depth.
If you have a dry area like a mountain in your model, the computation gives H=0 and by consequence, Free surface = Bottom...

This is probably what you see in your case

OK!
Thanks.

However, the water is just oscillating at the cornor of the mesh, at the liquid boundary layer.
Also, the water level doesn't seem to change much. These should be large tides between 3-5 meters.

Hi
Tides takes time to propagate in your domain and it seems you just run short simulation...

So, I ran it to simulate a week (168 hours).
The water depth only changes at the very edges (and fluctuates by the minute). The general behavior is wrong, where the water depth doesn't generally increase in time and decrease.

Does it have something to do with the TPXO data itself or with the parameters of the analysis?

So there is probably a problem with the computation of boundary values.
You probably should check the values computed by tpxo subroutine after the call in bord.
Try to print the information at each node (coordinates, time ...) and the value return by tpxo.

Hope this helps

Cool! Will do.

Just, uh, how do I do that?
