TOPIC: TIDE : previmer atlases

TIDE : previmer atlases 6 years 8 months ago #29279

Hi,
I've seen in the user manuel that PREVIMER atlases could be used with telemac2d however it was not completely interfaced.
I would like to use those atlases but I do not really from where I should begin.
Is there someone who has already use it?
Thanks
François

Hello Francois,

Glad to read that you still model tide with TELEMAC.

You can go and see to get the atlases marc.ifremer.fr/produits/atlas_de_composantes_harmoniques
You have to fill in the form.

Then you need to install the Tidal Toolbox to generate the HARMONIC CONSTANTS FILE.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan

Hello Chi-Tuan,
Thanks for your answer.
Long time I did not use it :)
I've made a training at HR Wallingford at the beginning of the year to use it again !

About the Previmer atlases, telemac will know how to read the file generated with the Tidal Toolbox?
I've to install a linux virtual machine to install the Tidal Toolbox, it seems that it do not work under windows.
Thanks!
François

Hello Francois,

The expected format of the HARMONIC CONSTANTS FILE with the PREVIMER atlases is the same as for NEA or FES. It is described in Appendix 4 of www.opentelemac.org/downloads/TRAINING%2...ation_maree_v6p2.pdf

The TELEMAC-2D tide example has also a case with NEA atlas: har_tide-NEA_prior.txt

You may have to rewrite the data. Next week, I can send you the command lines and one program to rewrite the data in the expected format for TELEMAC if you want (I am not at my office today).

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan

Hello Chi-Tuan,

I am actually trying to run TELEMAC with a FES Tidal Atlas. Therefor, I extracted and interpolated harmonic constituants on my boundary conditions, but I think that my HARMONIC CONSITUANTS FILE might not have the right format. You'll find the error message below:
TELEMAC2D INITIALIZED
At line 224 of file /opt/opentelemac/v8p0r0/sources/telemac2d/bord_tide_misc.f (unit = 9, file = '/irsn/local03/2019_R4_modelisation_maritime/2019_10_NAE/t2d_NAE_v2_11_FES.cas_2019-10-22-08h23min08s/T2DHAR')
Fortran runtime error: Bad real number in item 1 of list input
Primary job terminated normally, but 1 process returned
a non-zero exit code.. Per user-direction, the job has been aborted.

mpirun detected that one or more processes exited with non-zero status, thus causing
the job to be terminated. The first process to do so was:

Process name: [[37376,1],0]
Exit code: 2

I would be interested in the command lines to rewrite the data in the format for TELEMAC.

Thank you,
Nathalie

Hello Nathalie,

The headline of your file is not coherent with the following.
There are 343 expected maritime nodes for each of the 13 constituents (after the headlines), but you only write 242 in the headline at your 4th line. I suspect you forgot one maritime boundary with around 100 nodes.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan

Thank you ! Indeed I missed this liquid boundary.

In the headlines I added a 3rd liquid boundary in order to be able to add the point segment I missed, but in fact I only have two liquid boundaries.
3
1 74
16404 16504
18083 18250
343 13 M

I was able to run TELEMAC with my HARMONIC CONSTITUANTS FILE, but i wonder if it is the right thing to do or if i should renumber the points of the liquid boundaries, as the results are not what i expected ?

Thank you !

Hello Nathalie,

The numbers in the headlines, in particular the one describing the limits of your maritime boundaries, depend on your mesh and its numbering. You must not change the numbering. Otherwise, you will have to change the headline of your HARMONIC CONSTITUANTS FILE.

Perhaps you have to investigate more why the results are not the one expected.
