Hello,

I want to simulate the tide in the Golf of NORMAND BRETON (North of FRANCE).
I have a simple question for zone number in GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM.
I use a mesh in lambert93 coordinate, so to use TPXO i take the keyword below:

/ TIDAL INFORMATION
/
/
TIDAL DATA BASE=2
BINARY DATABASE 1 FOR TIDE = 'h_tpxo7.2'
BINARY DATABASE 2 FOR TIDE = 'u_tpxo7.2'

OPTION FOR TIDAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS = 1
ORIGINAL DATE OF TIME =2013;05;01
GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM =4
ZONE NUMBER IN GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM =1
/
/
/
/ INITIAL CONDITIONS
/
/
/
INITIAL CONDITIONS : 'TPXO SATELLITE ALTIMETRY'
/

according to the manuel, but for the coordinate it's dont indicate that is LAMBER93.

So my question: it is correct to use this keyword for coordinate in LAMBER93 ? or i must use another keyword or i should convert my coordinate.

Thank you in advance.
REGARDS.
YASMINA.

Hi Yasmina,

You have to set ZONE NUMBER IN GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM = 93.
But it's possible only since v7p3 versions of the code.

Thank you for your reply.

I will try your keyword, in a version v7p2r2, I will tell you if it is launched.

I decided to install version v7p3 but I did not find it.

Regards.

Unfortunately, it wont work with v7p2r2, no need to try it.

You can find the latest version here :

With v7p2r2, you can however transform your geometry file either in lambert 1 North (ZONE NUMBER IN GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM = 1), or in utm 30 (ZONE NUMBER IN GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM = 30).

I will use this, i didn't know that we can convert the coordinate only with the keyword.

Thank you for your help.

I just realize that i had done this before, but it's seems that the data wich was imported from TPXO are not the adequat data in my zone.
So i want to know if for TPXO data, i could had make a mistake in my steering file?

I attached my steering file.
Thank you.

No, the keyword wont convert your coordinates.
You have first to manually convert the coordinates of your geometry file and then indicate in the steering file which is the projection of your geometry file.

You're using the global tpxo database, so it should cover the Golf Normand-Breton.
I don't understand why you're saying that "the data which was imported from TPXO are not the adequate data in my zone"...

By the way, there is a regional database more accurate for this area.

Ahhh okay, sorry i had misunderstood.

I think the best solution is to install the new version, it's more easy and it's avoids me the redefine the mesh with a new coordinate.

Thank you.
