As a first experience with Telemac, I need to compute the hydrodynamics in a hoa.
A hoa is an inlet in a coral reef.
The hydrodynamic in the hoa I am focusing on is driven by a sea surface gradient between the ocean on one side of the Hoa and inside the lagoon on the other side.

Having a strong experience with a few hydrodynamic models (MARS, Mohid, Mike ...), I though this study shouldn't be so time consuming !

Time flows and my deadline is approaching ... Could anyone lend me a hand in defining the right boundary conditions for this study case ?

Best regards.

Hello

Yes we can help.
But we need more inputs. Did you build your mesh? do you have data for the model (bathymetry, domain limits, boundary conditions to prescribe)

Computational time is one of te main assets of the Telemac system, so you should not worry about it.

kind regadrs

Thank you for your answer,

The mesh i provide here is a simplified version of what the final one should be.

I will buid up a more precise model once I get a simplified version running.

My goal is to produce a flow from the boundary located south to the boundary located at the North.

If this flow can be produced by a surface elevation gradient between the two boundaries it would be great ! But I didn't manage to produce such result.

I have made several attemps and my cas file probably shouldn't be kept as such.

Again thank you for your help ...

Best regards

Hello
Your model is very very small. The 200 steps are run in 1s B)

There was several problems in your steering file. no file for the liquid boundary and several other numerical choices.
The most dangerous error is the use of longitude-Latitude in the geoetry file. If you do not indicate this detail, Telemac will consider by default that coordiantes are in cartesien and thus, your domain will be with dimensions 0.008mX0.018m :)

I changed several options that you can learn about in the user manual.
I'm using v7p3.

Surely, you have to improve your model, but I think that this could be a good start.

I hope this helps

with my best regards

Riadh

Thank you so much Riadh !

I usually use longitude and latitude in all my models ... so carried out building my HR version of the model using longitude and latitudes.

I came accross a limitation when inserting bridge piles in the model : I couldn't reach enough precision to make the piles round !

I switched all my input data to UTM, rebuilt everything, and modified the key words regarding the coordinates in my parameter file : It's a success !

Now that I think of it I think someone already warned me that using longitude and latitude in a telemac project could lead to some limitations (I think It was Pierre Lang) ... I guess I had to see for myself (again !!).

Again many thanks for your help !

Best Regards
