i have prepared my mesh in lat/long and interpolated bathymetry with lat/long. so in that case is it correct to give spatial projection type as 3

Hi,

I'm a new user of Telemac and was attempting the Baxter river tutorial. In the first instance I am trying to run the steady-state case to be used as a hotstart for the unsteady case but am getting the error already described in this thread.

ITERATION 0 TIME: 0.0000 S
DEBIMP: PROBLEM ON BOUNDARY NUMBER 2
GIVE A VELOCITY PROFILE
IN THE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS FILE
OR CHECK THE WATER DEPTHS.
OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSE:
SUPERCRITICAL ENTRY WITH FREE DEPTH
IN THIS CASE GIVE A POSITIVE DEPTH
IN THE INITIAL CONDITIONS
OR PRESCRIBE THE DEPTH AT THE ENTRANCE.

PLANTE: PROGRAM STOPPED AFTER AN ERROR
RETURNING EXIT CODE: 2

I have tried the suggestions of reducing time-step, changing velocity b.c.'s from 5 to 4 etc. but cannot resolve this issue. My b.c.s are two Q inlets and a stage-discharge Z-Q outlet as shown in the conLim attachment image.

My .cas and .cli files are also attached.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

My apologies, I have just literally managed to resolve this. It was a problem with the initial elevation being too low.

Thanks,

Tom

this is another problem different from the first one.
Boundary number 3 gets dry. you have to verify why. it could be :
1- steep bathymetry gradient at that boudanry
2- big time step. so reduce it to see if it fixes the issue
3- maybe also you are starting with dry boudnary, which is not allowed for boundary where you prescribe a discharge

I hope this helps.

kind regards
Riadh
