I'm trying to simulate a simple steady flow in a rectangular channel. I've followed the baxter example in creating the necessary files. The simulation runs without error. However, the velocity in a steady flow is expected to be uniform, but in this case I'm seeing at the inlet boundary the velocity is going in different directions as shown in the picture (boundary on the right). Any help in possible modifications would be grateful. Thanks!

You should specify your boundary conditions properly, discharge upstream and water level downstream.
PS, your missing numerical parameters as well, to tell telemac2d what solver to use etc.

Hi EnGlobe, thanks for prompt reply. Now I modified the boundary conditions. The flow seems to reach steady state if I give 'Prescribed elevations' and 'Prescribed flowrates(some Q at inlet and zero at outlet)'. However, if I give prescribed flow rate at the outlet as well, then even the outflow boundary is starting to behave as a inflow and generating negative flow. This is the similar case with 'Prescribed elevations and velocities'. If the velocity at outflow is zero, then the flow is in downstream direction. But if I specify some velocity at the outflow, there is flow into the domain rather than out. Is there something wrong in defining the outflow boundary?

If you want outflow you should specify it as negative. Keep in mind that if you specify only flows at your boundaries the system becomes unstable as you'll have to many degrees of freedom.
