open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

I would just like to make sure that what i understood about this telemac-2d solver is right or not.


I UNDERSTAND THAT THE FINITE ELEMENT METHOD IS ELEMENT BASED FORMULATION and not nodal based.


We are solving the governing equations using Finite Element method.

Why are we applying the solver and getting the results mostly at the NODES instead of ELEMENTS?

Why do we give most importance for only nodes and not the elements?

Depending on the element you use equations are Silves on nodes and other locations. Finite éléments method uses polynomial approximation to reconstruct solutions of PDE. These polynomials have an important property which is being equal to 1 at node on which they are defined and 0 on neighboring ones.
Si you see that FEM computes variables on nodes not on elements.
