Hi,

I am having issues in getting my model to output Fourier analysis, can someone check to see if I have the syntax correct in the CAS file? I am under the impression that periods refer to the number of time steps rather than absolute seconds? e.g. this config has a time step of one minute so the M2 and S2 periods I have added should be in number of mins?

However the range the analysis is applied for should be in seconds? I have set it so that it runs for the whole simulation. The model runs for two weeks so should at least be able to tease out M2 and S2.

Many Thanks

Hi,

Update, I now seem to have got the amplitude and phase output to work. I am now getting values for these variables. I had an issue with my boundary conditions that while allowed some velocities it didn't seem to be enough to analyse.

Anyway my next question is, I was expecting just the one array for amplitude and phase for each of the periods specified. But there seems to be one for every graphic printout like the velocity and surface height etc.

If that is the case I presumably take the last array in the model as that will have the best values?

Finally can anyone confirm that the periods used to define the Fourier analysis relate to the declared time step. In my latest run I have set up variable time steps. The initial time step is still a minute but this quickly goes down to around 20 secs to keep the Courant number at 0.9. Does this impact things?

Hello,

You can have a look at the TELEMAC-2D m2wave example which is the one dealing with Fourier Analysis. In this one, the periods are in seconds.

Hope this helps,

Thats great I didn't realise there was an example.

One final thing, I have set the model config to have variable time steps in order to keep the COURANT number at 0.9. The model runs fine like this but I am wondering if would effect the Fourier analysis?

Given you are specifying everything Fourier related in seconds I would guess not but would like to check.

Many Thanks for your help.
