Hello dear users,
I'm using TPXO as a tide database wind factors to simulate a gulf hydrodynamics.
The liquid open boundary conditions are set to H and UV. (TPXO SATELLITE ALTIMETRY)
First, I would also like to thank the previous users for their guidance. The free surface results of the tide change are nice, and they are very consistent with the real.
But when I check the horizontal currents velocity , its show a very lower velocity than the actual measurement in three days. I will attach a comparison chart to check.
I checked many previous posts about this, and I made the following attempts:
1. Using OPTION FOR LIQUID BOUNDARIES 2-Thomson boundary conditions,
2. Reduce bottom FRICTION COEFFICIENT
3. Adjust the COEFFICIENT TO CALIBRATE TIDAL VELOCITIES
4, try to reduce the FRICTION COEFFICIENT of vertical turbulence in 3d
The velocity results are still very low, I don't know what is wrong with the model. what about your TPXO model in your case?should i do some else adjust?
I know that the currents velocity of the TPXO database is based on advection of the satellite's 2d average water depth, not ocean currents, I suspect the lack of ocean current data, but I checked the HYCOM database. In my case, the impact is actually small, and in the gulf the average depth does not exceed 5m. also i will attach the result 3d.
Therefore, under the driving of TPXO and wind, the simulation currents velocity indeed is very low and unreal. Any suggestions on this?
thanks in advence
