Hello,

I want to carryout the flow simulation for a domain where the velocities at source point are to be applied.

Hence i used the following keywords
ABSCISSAE OF SOURCES : 292024.43750000000
ORDINATES OF SOURCES : 2069284.1250000000
VELOCITIES OF THE SOURCES ALONG X : 0.1
VELOCITIES OF THE SOURCES ALONG Y : 2.12

As i start to run, The solver got stopped showing the error.

0 ABSCISSAE OF SOURCES EXPECTED
1 FOUND

What could be the reason ?

Thanks
Sathya

Hi,

Did you define the WATER DISCHARGE OF SOURCES ?

Hi,

I have not defined WATER DISCHARGE OF SOURCES.

IS it mandatory?

If WATER DISCHARGE OF SOURCES and VELOCITTIES OF SOURCES ALONG X, VELOCITIES OF SOURCES ALONG Y are defined, will it violate Q=AV provided the area of surrounding elements is constant w.r.t. time?

Thanks
Sathya

Hi,

I think you should have a look at the section 8 of the Telemac-2D user manual:

"When the sources are located through the keywords ABSCISSAE OF SOURCES or GLOBAL NUMBERS OF SOURCE NODES, the WATER DISCHARGE OF SOURCES is mandatory to take into account the velocity of the source.
On the contrary, if the source is located in a region (through ASCII SOURCE DATA FILE), the user can choose to only impose the velocity of the source. The program will automatically compute the water discharge, using the surface of the region."

Hello,

By choosing to impose only the velocity of sources, the water discharge will be automatically calculated. Pls tell me if there is any option to store the calculated water discharge in result file or in any other file.

Thanks

Hi,

If you don't specify the discharge, it will be computed as the norm of the velocity of the source times the area of your region where you want to prescribe the source(s).

It can be tricky to compute the discharge by post-processing, the easiest way to check it, is to look at the end of the listing, the value of "VOLUME ADDED BY SOURCE TERM". It should match with:
- WATER DISCHARGE OF SOURCES * duration of your simulation (if you prescribe the discharge)
- or the norm of velocity * area of the region * duration of your simulation (if you don't prescribe the discharge).

I hope it helps.

Laurent
