Hi
It is possible to breach a model at the boundary?
What kind of condition do I need in my boundary conditions file?
Thanks

Hello,

Can you explain what you mean by "to breach a model at the boundary"?

Hello!
I have a 2D model and I want to make a dam break simulation.
Before the dam breaks, there is a liquid boundary condition at the same place the dam will break.
I would like to use the Telemac dam break routine but I dont know what kind of boundary condition will work for this case.
Merci beaucoup!

Hi
According to your precision, I suppose you computed the hydrograph of the dam breach with an external software or something else.
So you could impose directly this hydrograph in place of the previous liquid boundary.
In case of the flow will be locally supercritical, it's better in this case to also impose the water level.

Hope this helps

Salut Christophe
Non, I would like to compute the hydrograph with Telemac, I have a 2D model of my reservoir.
I want to simulate a dam break in 30 minutes at the location of my liquid boundary with the dam break routine in Telemac.
Merci!

Could you clarify with a view of your model?
To compute the dam breach hydrograph, you should have both the reservoir and the downstream part of the dam in you mesh...
Which dam breach routine are you thinking of?

Christophe

Salut!
I have a 2D mesh for the reservoir. It's a big mesh, 100km x 100km.
I build the model to computed water levels for several conditions but now we're interested in a dam break simulation. I want to use the dyke breach routine for a first estimation of the dam breach hydrograph. I would like to simulated a progressive dam break, gradually lower the altitude of some points.
After this, I'll add de downstream part in the mesh...but for now I would like to have an idea of the breach flow that will be released into the river downstream.
Merci encore!

Thanks for the clarification
To use the dyke breach subroutine, you should have the dyke in your model (this is not possible as a boundary condition)
So you should, at least, extend your model downstream...
As an option but maybe this should be confirm by others users, I imagine you could change the boundary condition type you give at the dam to a free flow boundary.
This will gives you an idea of the discharge due to an instantaneous break of the dam but without any downstream influence...

Hope this helps
Christophe
