Hi to you all!

I managed to install telemac v8p2 with a lot of difficulties and now I want to run a 2D simulation on my surveying data.
I had different mesh issues when I tried the simulation on the full area. That's why I want to try simulating only a tiny sector first, but still it's just not working: "...Segmentation fault (core dumped)"
I'm attaching the full error log and my input files and the DEM.

What I don't understand is why he doesn't give me an analysis of the mesh, even though I have CHECKING THE MESH : YES is my cas file ?
Is there any other way to check my mesh for mistakes, or is the only way to modify the number of nodes in the BK mesh-Creators? Couldn't find anything in the manual or the forum.

Really looking for a friend since I need this for my master thesis and I'm kinda hard-stuck at telemac!

Many thanks!
Peter

Hello,

Indeed you have mesh issues. You should rebuild it. Do you use Blue Kenue to generate this geometry file? I cannot use BK.

Anyway, your geometry file cannot be read with every post-treatment tool (e.g. Fudaa prepro or using plot.py script with mesh2d argument and --liq-bnd option). Moreover, using a debug configuration to compile and run TELEMAC-2D, it says that you have an issue in elebd subroutine: it seems that you have an issue with at least one boundary node.

Looking quickly to your mesh, it should be at least redone for the southern boundary. Avoid these flat triangles.

Even if you have struggled in installing v8p2, you should now upgrade to v8p3 as there is no assistance for previous releases.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan

Hi Chituan,

Thanks for your answer!
Yes I created it in BK because that's the only software that I comprehend at this time (I'm depending on web-tutorials).
Ok I will try to change the nodes so that I have none of these flat triangles.

But any idea why I cannot test the mesh with the CHECKING THE MESH keyword?
Or are there other means of testing my mesh for errors myself? I read about stbtel but could't find an explanation.

About the version: Does that mean I can't expect help in this forum unless I download the newest one?

Many thanks!

Hello again Peter,

CHECKING THE MESH feature cannot write anything as the there is an issue with your mesh before the CHECKMESH subroutine is called. Your issue appears in INBIEF subroutine when calling ELEBD. That means your mesh is so bad that it cannot be read by TELEMAC correctly and no possibility to activate the keyword.

You can try to post your issue in the Blue Kenue section. Perhaps some users may help you.

For the version, for sure, if you encounter an issue which is not obvious and common to many releases, I (and probably the most active poster Christophe) will not waste time to try to reproduce it, in particular if it concerns a bug solved in next releases.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan

Thanks again for your answers Chi-Tuan!

I now managed to produce a running simulation for the small area (huge relief!) and tried to make the same with my full river stretch.
The simulation doesn't run and the log says some directory is missing, although I don't think it is.
I'm posting the log in the attachments, along with my input data. Maybe you can tell me why he doesn't like the directories. For me it doesn't look like it's the mesh this time.
If you still think this is a BK issue I will just post it over there but I thought here is the right place since it's about the telemac directories.

Many thanks
Peter

Hello Peter,

Without the log file (try to use a .txt extension e.g. rather than .log which may not be allowed) or the geometry file (perhaps too big?), it will be difficult to say anything.

Hello guys,
Here are the missing files. My mesh file is zipped as a .rar
The .dem is the same as above.
Thank you!

Hi,

try to avoid blanks in your file names as well as directory names.

Hope this helps,
Clemens
