Dear all,
I'm trying to model a Flume that's situated in a lab, in 2DH TELEMAC.
The flume produces waves and currents.
I have measured the water levels upstream and downstream and also the velocities (U,V) Upstream.
My upstream BC are then (U,V,H), downstream (H).
Sadly when i animate the model in BlueKenue, there is still reflection of the waves.
I also played with the Bottom friction, but yet the animation doesn't confirm the reality. I'm asking myself if it is possible to animate wave and currents in TELEMAC2D and if i'm doing it with the correct Boundary conditions.
Anyone has experience with modelling a Wave Flume in 2DH? If yes, thankyou in advance.

Hello,

The theory of characteristics to choose what kind of boundary conditions to prescribe tells that you need one information coming from the upstream boundary condition and another one coming from the downstream boundary condition in case of subcritical flow (I assume you are in this case).

You can prescribe e.g. flowrate (or velocity) for upstream and water level for downstream (this is usual), or water level for upstream and flowrate (or velocity) downstream.

With your choice, you have overconstrained conditions at your upstream BC (you want to prescribe both water level and velocities). What you can try is to use the Thompson boundary conditions for this BC, please read what is related to keyword OPTION FOR LIQUID BOUNDARIES with choice 2 in the TELEMAC-2D user manual.

Hope this helps,
