Dear community, I am trying to run a model that consist of a natural river and an urban zone. The goal is try to simulate an unsteady model with a 100 years return period hydrograph and the behavior of two water intakes and for this purpose my to do list is:

1. Run a steady model to have the base for the unsteady model. In this case the boundaries conditions were fixed as follows:
- inlet : prescribed H
- outlet : open boundary 444
- water intake 1 : prescribed Q with no value
- water intake 1 : prescribed Q with no value.
This model run for a total time of 20 seconds with an approximate 2 m3/s of flowrate at inlet.

2. Run an unsteady model with 100 year return period by mean hydrograph.
In this case the boundaries conditions were fixed as follows:
- inlet : prescribed Q - 100 years hydrograph
- outlet : open boundary 444
- water intake 1 : prescribed Q - discharge curve Z vs Q
- water intake 1 : prescribed Q - discharge curve Z vs Q
This model uses result of run in 1 as previous computation file. But the second one does not start and the next message appears:
DEBIMP: PROBLEM ON BOUNDARY NUMBER 3
GIVE A VELOCITY PROFILE
IN THE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS FILE
OR CHECK THE WATER DEPTHS.
OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSE:
SUPERCRITICAL ENTRY WITH FREE DEPTH
IN THIS CASE GIVE A POSITIVE DEPTH
The boundary 3 is the first boundary with stage discharge curve.
Note that in the second one model both boundaries with stage discharge curves starts in dry mode.

Could someone please help me with any advice to solve this problem?

Best regards
Ricardo

Hello Ricardo,

You cannot prescribe flowrate or water depth on a dry areas. You have to start your computation with at least one wet node.

Hope this helps,
