TOPIC: Question about fort.14

Question about fort.14 12 years 7 months ago #4325

Hello,everyone.

When telemac2d was started, an error happened. It was said the file fort.14 couldn't be found(unit 14).

I have no idea why, becuase I cannot find any argument about unit 14 in the fortran file. Should I build some file corresponding with unit 14 mannually?

Could anynone give me some hint about this?

Thanks in advance.

Now i know T2D_FILES(T2DTID)%LU=NBI2=14,

but i still have no idea of how to build the connection between unit 14 and data file?

for example, T2DFO1 corresponds to "FORMATTED DATA FILE 1".

Then what's the keyword for "T2D_FILES(T2DTID)%LU"?

Hi
All those informations could be found in the dictionnary file of telemac2d.
you could find in it:
NOM = 'FICHIER DU MODELE DE MAREE'
NOM1 = 'TIDAL MODEL FILE'
TYPE = CARACTERE
INDEX = 84
MNEMO = 'T2D_FILES(T2DTID)'
SUBMIT = 'NTID-READ-14;T2DTID;FACUL;BIN;LIT;SELAFIN'
DEFAUT = ' '
DEFAUT1 = ' '
RUBRIQUE = 'ENTREES-SORTIES, FICHIERS';'NOMS'
RUBRIQUE1 = 'INPUT-OUTPUT, FILES';'NAMES'
NIVEAU = 1
AIDE = 'Constantes harmoniques extraites du fichier du modele de maree'
AIDE1 = 'Harmonic constants extracted from the tidalmodel file'
So you probably try to use OPTION FOR TIDAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS but this require some complementary data files. Check in the documentation for more details about this option

Hope this helps

c.coulet,

what do the complementary data files you meant in last post refer to in detail?

Are they some results from hamonious analysis?

Hello,

A database of tidal constituents was developed a long time ago and covers the English Channel and Northern Atlantic Ocean. It was generated with a Telemac-2D computation.

The keyword 'TIDAL MODEL FILE' refers to the geometry file of this model and is used when interpolating the tidal constituents for local models.
The keyword 'TIDE DATA BASE' refers to the database of tidal constituents stored at each node of the "big" model.

I do not remember if a test case has been provided or not, but if not, it will be soon.

Best regards,

Chi-Tuan

Thank you, pham. You reply makes me more clear about that.

But according to that, if I apply telemac2d in other areas, for example, the Pacific ocean region, the TIDAL_MODEL_T2D() subroutine cannot be used or more complicated to use, right?

Hello,

In version 6.1, if you find an equivalent model (geometry file covering the Pacific ocean and database of constituents) of the Pacific ocean with the same constituents and the same formats of files, it may work, but I am not really sure that such a model is available... The two files that are given with version 6.1 currently deal with the English Channel and close Atlantic ocean only.

Hello,pham.

Since last time you told me that TIDAL_MODEL_T2D subroutine in version 6.1 deals with the English Channel and close Atlantic ocean only at present,do you have some good advice for applying telemac in other regions, like China,
conerning tidal level boundary conditons generation?

Best wishes

Hello,

For other locations outside the English Channel and close Atlantic ocean, in order to use tidal database in standard Telemac, you have to wait until next version 6.2. If you are in hurry, you can try to contact organisations such as the one recommended in Assistance menu, which may propose you their services.
