Hi:

For a project to simulate the water level (no tracer) I used the Finite-Volume method and following parameter:

FINITE VOLUME SCHEME = 1
LAW OF BOTTOM FRICTION = 3 (Strickler)
TURBULENCE MODEL = 4 (Smagorinski)

I tested different values for the parameter "VELOCITY DIFFUSIVITY" and found that there is no differences in the calculated water level by using
VELOCITY DIFFUSIVITY = 0.0001 and VELOCITY DIFFUSIVITY = 10000.0. It seems like that for FV-method and turbulence model 4 the turbulence viscosity is
not considered in the calculation. Is this true?

Best wishes

Hello,

First to activate finite volume method you need to add the keyword
EQUATIONS = SAINT-VENANT FV
Moreover, turbulence models are not yet implemented with finite volumes. It is well known that the elliptic part of PDEs are much more well-handled with finite elements than with FV.
Finally, the velocity diffusivity is implemented only with kinetic schemes, i.e. for FINITE VOLUME SCHEME = 1 and 2

With my best regards.
