I am running a tidal channel simulation which works fine.

When I wanted to look at a smaller area with a better resolution I added a small submesh, the program runs but all my output values are zeroes.

Took out the submesh, re-did all pre-processing with Blue Kenue again, channel simulation executes perfectly again - same steering file.

Does anyone have any suggestions why the addition of the submesh is giving me output which are all zeroes? Again, the program runs w/o error messages. I checked the boundary conditions, steering file, etc. I can't figure out why a small area with a finer mesh would cause my (heretofore) perfectly running tidal channel to output all zeroes? Thanks in advance. John

Hi
Could you join some illustration of the mesh, the results...

The problem may lie in the 1 m edge length of the submesh; coarse mesh was 50m, but the program kept running with no error messages. I have attached a file. Thanks John

Hello,

It is true that if you have much smaller elements the time step should also be changed in accordance, but I think the error is more basic. You should look at the boundary conditions and find why there are no longer applied. If it were a problem of time step or numerical parameters, you would see it in the listing (e.g. large numbers of iterations of the solvers). Probably your listing says that there is one iteration and relative accuracy 0. for all solvers because nothing is entered at the boundaries.

With best regards,
