Hi,

I'm a recent user of TELEMAC2D and after reading a lot of posts on this forum, I would like to know if a manual about TUBES and CULVERTS DATA FILE exist, because I have to modelize a small bridge over a river. I have also read the test case 039-bridge but I'm lost with the files.

Thank you for your comprehension.

Hello Cedric

In the next version, the user manual will include an explanation of the use of tubes/bridges.
The modelisation of bridge is close to the one of a culvert or a tube, in the attached document there is a small description that I hope will help you.
Based on this document and the test-case 0-39-bridge, you will be able to achieve your model

With my best regards

Hello,

Thanks you for your answer. Now, all the terms are ok for me.

But, is there any explication of the fact that in my modele, in theory, the tube should not modify the flow beacause of its dimensions (as wide as the river and higher than the free surface) but by the calcul of telemac, the free surface increases upstream ? I made sure that the dimensions of the tube are smaller than the Mesh and also I put "0" at the linear head-loss (L12 = 0 ). If I want to keep the same free surface upstream and dowstream, I need to decrease considerably the "CE" ans "CS" coeficient (nearly to "0") at each imposed flow that I'm testing.

Thank you for your attention.

Hello
If you are using the V6p2 release, there is a validation test called 033-siphon that gives a example of use of a culvert.
For V6p3 release, the test is called simple siphon.

in the v6.3 example of the culvert. what is the fortran file used for? is it possible just to model the culvert with just the culvert data file?

thanks in advance

Hello Cédric

Even if you have a tube whith large diemensions and with L12 =0, it will perturb the flow anyway. In deed, the tube (same for a culvert) is not added geometrically in the mesh (and in this case it should not perturb the flow with your conditions) but it is introduced as a empirical formula that have as main consequence the generation of a discharge between the couple of points you've specified. If you look at the formula, you can see that even when L12=0, there are a (not nil) discharge through the tube. if you want to nullify the discharge, you need probably to increase L12 to infinity. However, the best way is to remove it from the model if it is not mandatory. With a nil discharge through the tube, all the flow will occur on the real domain and you should not see the effect of the tube.

I hope that it is helpful

Kind regards
