I'm getting errors running Telemac2d.
I have set up all the required files ie slf, cas, cli and a liquid boundary file for the inflow(m3/s) corresponding to boundary 7 which is as below
T Q(7)
s m3/s
0. 0.254851436
240. 0.254851436
360. 0.20455042
.
.
3600. 0.144806256
3630. 0.
36000. 0.

All the other open boundaries (1-6) are outflow for which I need the depth and flow rate
The error reads:

DEBIMP : PROBLEM ON BOUNDARY NUMBER 7
GIVE A VELOCITY PROFILE
IN THE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS FILE
OR CHECK THE WATER DEPTHS

I can't figure out the error from the debimp.f file IF(ABS(Q).GT.1.D-10) , my initial Q is not zero and so the velocity vectors should be calculated?

My *.cas file is as below:
GEOMETRY FILE = geox.slf
BOUNDARY CONDITIONS FILE = BCx.cli
LIQUID BOUNDARIES FILE = inflowQ.lbf
RESULTS FILE = result_x.slf

VARIABLES FOR GRAPHIC PRINTOUTS = 'H,Q'

Hello,

The problem is your initial condition with zero depth. You need to have water on the boundary where you want to get your discharge.

In the manual it's written:
• „ZERO DEPTH‟: All water depths are initialised with a zero value (free surface same as bottom). In other words, the entire domain is dry at the start of the computation.

So when is the option above used, if the model cannot start from this initial condition? My domain is dry at the beginning and so I'm introducing inflow at least after 0s e.g at 0.1s. I've tried by setting inflow at 0s to be 0. and incrementally at 0.1s intervals but it still does not work.

I've also tried to assign initial depth ranging from 0.1 to 1. The model starts to run at initial depth=1m, but then the whole water balance is wrong.
All the options in the manual i.e. ZERO ELEVATION,CONSTANT ELEVATION,ZERO DEPTH and CONSTANT DEPTH are not working. I'm not sure what the problem is.

I'm curious what is the minimum simulated water depth that Telemac can handle?

hi,

JMH's suggestion is correct, because I am using the initial condition as zero depth, you should give the upstream a H,U,V value in your boundary file, and give the velocity profile, then it can work.

you can have a try.

Hello,

This is exactly so. If you have no water in the domain, the flow will be supercritical at the beginning, so you need to give a discharge and a depth at the entrance.

Thanks Yajuan

Do you have an extract from your boundary file that I can look at. I don't know what values to give as I have no measurements to guide me on values of H UV, velocity profile
The following is what I have.

4 5 5 0.000 1.000 1.000 0.000 4 0.000 0.000 0.000 13 432
