Hi

I am trying to simulate a simple sinusoidal tidal flow by varying the free surface at two ends of a rectangular mesh. The simulation works as expected for a certain amount of time then at some point a large amount of flow enters from one area of the boundary. Does anyone why the flow behaves this way? I have attached my cas file.

Cheers,

Jamie

Hello

You said that you are prescribing elevation at both liquid boundaries, thus there is no condition on the flowrate which can change depending on the flow regime and if there is or no interference phenomenon.
To reproduce tidal effects, you need to prescribe elevation only on one side of the flume, otherwise you have to use a very long channel in order to keep away at most the effects of each bounday. On the other boundary you can prescribe a flowrate or a free output.

With my best regards
