Hello!

I have problem in running a flow and transport simulation in Telemac 2D considering 5 uptakes and 4 tributaries in the computational domain.
I have simulated the uptakes as sources and for the tributaries I opened the boundaries in 5 points for each tributary, so I have overall 6 open boundaries, considerung also the inflow and the outflow.

I attach the cas file, the geo file, the bc file (also the liquid boundary) and the error that occurs.

Thanks a lot.

Best regards

Hi

Hard to say with such error message...

Did you try to run it without parallelism?

You could also activate the keyword DEBUGGER = 1 in order to see in which subroutine the problem is

Hope this helps

Thank you, I will try. Also a collegue suggested me to try something, working on the sources.
I will write again if I still have problems.

Best regards

Unfortunately it continues to report the following error:
DEBIMP : PROBLEM ON BOUNDARY NUMBER 2
GIVE A VELOCITY PROFILE
IN THE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS FILE
OR CHECK THE WATER DEPTHS
Do you please know what does it mean?
Thanks.

Hi

It means exactly what it's written

You have a boundary with an impose discharge where there is no water!
On the boundaries where a discharge is imposed (if a velocity profile is not prescribed, which is often the case!), telemac use the water level to compute the cross-section and then compute the velocity...
If there is no water, telemac cannot compute the velocity!

Check you initial condition!

Hope this helps

Yes, I had some dry nodes. I refined the boundaries at the tributaries and adjust them a little and now seems working.
Thanks!

Hello,

I continue to have problems with this computation. The fact is that I have a complex bathymetry and at the boundaries I have shallow areas. I tried different changes in the steering file, to work around the problem, but sooner or later it gives me error. I think if I don't find other solutions I will change a little bit the bathymetry.
I had also to change the order of the prescribed elevations and flowrates, because it changed suddently and was giving mixed values.
Now the strange thing is that at 2 boundaries Telemac gives me totally wrong values, also at t=0. The other 4 are correct.
I attach the steering file, if anyone have time to check it.

Thanks.

Hello,

as far as I can see the whole boundary of your mesh has an elevation of 302.8. You specify this value as initial condition and as water level for the outlet. So at the inflow and outflow boundaries you have zero water depths which causes the error messages.
Furthermore in your liquid boundary file you specify an inflow for the model but not to which boundary this inflow belongs?

I think you have a quite complex model (sources, tracers, wind) with potential sources of errors, so I would start with a basic hydrodynamic computation without sources, tracers, wind etc. and after some hopefully successfull computations increase the complexity.

Hope this helps,
Clemens

Actually I proceeded step by step and everything was working... the last step was to add a general tracer and now all these problems came. I try to adjust the liquid boundary file. I think I will also adjust the bathymetry, also if it is a bit far from reality. The problem is that in reality the boundaries are really shallow and in dry periods they have no water... e.g. 302.8 m for bottom elevation in those dry zones and mean water elevation is also 302.8 m. But also if I set an initial water elevation of 304 m it gives me error.
Anyway, thanks.
