Hello,

I have a problem with the parallel mode. In my listing file there is a sentence which indicates that the key word PARALLEL PROCESSORS is mentioned at least twice :

LE MOT CLE : PROCESSEURS PARALLELES
EST CITE AU MOINS 2 FOIS, SEULE LA DERNIERE VALEUR EST CONSERVEE...

But, it is mentioned just once in my steering file. So where telemac takes into account the second reference?

Best regards.

Jules

Hello,

I can't believe it. Only possibility: your steering file contains a keyword steering file that refers to another file which contains twice the keyword PARALLEL PROCESSORS...

Hello,

OK, so I am very surprised and a test could consist in stopping the run and looking at the file T2DCAS in the temporary folder, in case the Python scripts modify the steering file, it is what they did for some time...

If not we would need the whole case to understand. Anyway it visibly takes the correct number.

Thank you for being so available,

There is 3 lines at the end of the T2DCAS file, one with the keyword PARALLEL PROCESSORS.

And Yes it visibly takes the correct number. This was just for my understanding.

Hello,

So it is definitely added by the Python scripts, it is not done in Perl. I'll ask why they do this. Maybe if you add &FIN at the end of your file you will not see this message, but well, we now understand what happens.

Hello,

I must admit that this has been a programming short-cut on my part.
It was easier to add a new keyword (taking into account what come on the command line with the option --ncsize) than modifying a keyword.

We will work at getting this right one of the next release of v7p0 -- thank you for your very relevant question.

Sébastien.

Hello all
I have just installed v7p0r0 to a different cluster but I am getting the same problem. I definately only have one call for PARALLEL PROCESSORS in the case file.
The telemac-2d listing shows:

THE KEY-WORD: PARALLEL PROCESSORS
APPPEARS AT LEAST TWICE , THE LAST VALUE WILL BE KEPT...

END OF FILE FOR DAMOCLES

DIFFERENT NUMBER OF PARALLEL PROCESSORS:
DECLARED BEFORE (CASE OF COUPLING ?): 0
TELEMAC-2D : 1
VALUE 0 IS KEPT

Is there a python script modification I can make to amend this?
Thanks
John

Hello,

The new release 7.1 is now available, you could try it instead. I think I have also this message when I run in scalar mode (I ask for 0 processor), but it is no problem, 0 or 1 gives the same result. Or is it that you asked for more than 1 processor ?

JMH

Morning Jean-Michel

Yes - since the post yesterday I realised that there was a new release - so have installed and compiled v7p1r0. I have also rebuilt Metis on this new cluster installation using the same libraries.

But I still have problems unfortunately.
If I ask for a scalar run (0 processors) - it works perfectly.
If I ask for 1 processor - The mpi instruction is invoked and the job runs, although no domain partioning is carried out..
If I ask for more than 1 - I have a bigger problem with a segmentation error at runPARTEL.

I am trying to debug this but any suggestions would be appreciated.
Could you confirm which version of python2.7 is used.

Best Regards
John
