I noticed you use ALGAE_START in flot.f but you didn't define it although it's clearly indicate in the commented example few lines before...

I did define ALGAE_START in another computation but the similar error persist.

Another potential test could be to exactly copy what is done in type 1 in type 5 to check if it runs well with type value = 5 and add the changes in a second time (subroutine by subroutine)

I've tried as per suggested and still encountered the same error.

So this means there is part of the code where type 5 is not managed...
Look for algae_type in the code

I also believe so. if I'm not mistaken, ALGTYP is only found in subroutine DISP_ALGAE of which I've tried the changes in the necessary parts to define the body properties and also its transport. Which leaves me confuse as I've tried searching for this answer for months.
