I am calibrating a TELEMAC2D model using TPXO tidal database. I am using Keywords:

OPTION FOR TIDAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS : 1 (Real tide)
TIDAL DATA BASE : 2 (TPXO Database)

To compare water-level from modelled results, I am using Datum of Predictions is Lowest Astronomical Tide, and with Times are in local standard time (UTC +10:00).

My question are:

1. What time-series does a TELEMAC model generate (in this case)? real tide at local time? or real tide at UTC+0?

2. Do I need to convert time from my predicted data which apply local time (UTC+10) to GMT (+0)? For instance: predicted tide at 23:50 is 1.24m (UTC+10), converting to 13:50 (UTC+0) = 1.24m?

Best Regards

Hello,

When modelling tide with TELEMAC (2D or 3D), every time data is referred to UTC time, not local time.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Mr. Tuan.

So It means that I am right to convert the local time into UTC
