Good morning!
I'm studying an alternative to dredging, consisting of decreasing the flow derived by the left arm of a bifurcation of the Parana river km 416 (Island Ing. Sabino Corsi) by building a submerged cofferdam. In this way it will be forced an increase in flow rates on the right arm of the bifurcation and consequently increase speeds and depths of balance in such arm in order to minimize the initial and maintenance dredging volume in this area. It is intended to increase the effective depths necessary for the circulation of ships, generating self-draining conditions.
We use Telemac 2D coupling with Sisyphe, I attach the .cas files employees. We perform a simulation for steady flow with a flow rate equal to 24628 m3/s.
When we analyze the variation of the bottom of the navigation channel, we see that the bottom presents successive erosion and sedimentation points as seen in the attached figure.
We have read the SISPHE manual, studied the examples and read in the forum, but we did not find the possible error.
I wait for answers!
Thank you!
Flor

Hi Flor,

There are a number of things you can change:

COUPLING PERIOD FOR SISYPHE =86400
this coupling period is way to high. The bed changes are passed on only once a day. As sisyphe runs really quick, especially with bedload only, set the coupling period equal to the flow time step. This is most likely the cause of the unrealistic bedforms.

SLOPE EFFECT =false
including the slope effects will reduce the generation of steep slopes

SEDIMENT DIAMETERS =0.0003;0.9
are you really trying to model a bed with 0.3mm sand and 90cm cobbles?

regards,

Michiel
