TOPIC: No-erodible rocks in the river

No-erodible rocks in the river 2 years 3 months ago #40824

Hi everyone,

I would like to simulate a telemac2d model coupled with Gaia in a river. There are many rocks that exist in the channel. I know I can modify the user_bed fortrun file to define such rocks as no-erodible by manually entering their coordinates. However, there are too much rocks and they are dispersive in the river. The rocks will be suddenly eroded during high flow and cause significant desposition at nearby area, as I showed in the photo.
So I would like to know how to simply fix this problem. Can I define the non-erodible zone in the slf file through Bluekenue?

Regards
LIN

Hi Lin,

you can define a rigid bed using a slf file. The easiest way would be a start from a PREVIOUS SEDIMENTOLOGICAL COMPUTATION FILE. Just run your simulation only 1 time step and create a gaia-result file which should contain all layer thicknesses. In case of uniform grain sizes it is only 1 layer thickness.
I am not familiar with bluekenue but I hope you can change the layer thickness to zero for the rock positions.
Rigid bed (ZR) is a calculated variable which is defined by the bed level (ZF) minus the layer thicknesses (ES).

Do you want to simulate the sudden erosion of the rocks? I guess no. So you need to establish a new simulation with new initial conditions for different rock positions.

Rebekka
