Hi,

We are making a model for the north sea. It gave logical result without sediment. But I got very large velocities (up to 500m/s), free surface(up to 33000m) when it was coupled with SISYPHE even at first time step. I looked at the steering file and I have no idea. It seems OK and if I use it on another model (Scheldt model), it runs successfully.

However, I found one strange thing which was that SISYPHE calls the subroutine “write_mesh” (it’s used to transform the Mercator projection to lat-lon coordinates) during the calculation but apparently it does nothing. Telemac2D calls the same subroutine and it works well there.

Could it be caused by the very deep sea bottom? Because the only two major differences between my model and the Scheldt model are deep bottom elevations and coordinates.

Thank you for your time

Kind regards,

Pieter

Hello,

This is a new test for Sisyphe, we never used it sofar with spherical coordinates, so probably there is something wrong.
The option spherical coordinates is not available is Sisyphe. This can be improved in the next version. The fact that the water depth is very large should not be a problem, all transport rate going to zero in this case.

Best regards, Cath
