Inital fraction lost after first time step 12 years 3 months ago #5222

Hi again,

we are facing the next problem.
We are modelling reservoir flushing with a hydrodynamic and a sedimentological previous computation file. In the previous computation file is the inital fraction of the sediments. SISYPHE reads the file and uses the inital fraction for the first time step, but after the first time step the inital fraction is lost and there is just fraction 1 in the whole mesh.
The interessting thing is, that SISYPHE didn't lose the rigid bed parameters from the same previous computation file.
After checking the previous computation files I have no clue whats the problem in these cases.
I also checked the keywords and wrote new previous computation files, but it still do not work.

Happy for any hint,
Gabi

Hello Gabi,
I attached two routines I am using if I have sediment fractions and Rigid bed in my restart.
have a try with them in you sisyphe fortran routine.
best regards
Annalena

Hello Annalena,

thank you very much. I'll try your fortran file in the next run.

Many thanks,
Gabi

Hi Annalena,

I have tried your fortran subroutine. It was running after I switched off the mud part (maybe because I have no mud in this case), but unfortunately it didn't solver the problem.
SISYPHE is still loosing the initial fraction (spatial distributed) after the first time step, but it is keeping the rigid bed conditions which was in the same previous computation file.
It is working if the simulation is running without previous computation file using the noerod and the initcompo subroutine in scalar mode.
I have no clue why some cases are running with the previous computation file and some not.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,
Gabi

Hello, I am trying to catch up, since I just got back from holidays. One question which is unclear: do you work with non-cohesive sediments, cohesive or mixte sediments.
As far as I can tell, the non cohesive (with sand grading effects) has been tested and should work properly. The pure mud has been tested and should work. The mixte sediments are still under development.
Let me know where the problem comes from,
best regards,
Cath

Hello Cath,

we are working with noncohesiv sediments with a range from 0.0001m to 0.13m. The sediment fractions are spatial distributed, that means coarser sediment fractions at the head of the reservoir and the fine ones in front of the weir.
As discribed in the first post, we have problems in some cases, because Sisyphe is loosing the initial fraction of the previous computation file after the first time step. In other cases the simulations are running well and after checking the files for over 1 week and writing new previous computation files and checking again I have no clue what's the problem in the cases where Sisyphe is loosing the fractions.

Many thanks
Gabi
