bed density mixed sediments

Hello,
I am trying to implement a new formula for the critical erosion shear stress of mixed sediment. Therefore I need the bed density. At the moment the density of bed is controlled by two values SEDIMENT DENSITY (sand density which is a constant 2560 kg/m3) and MUD CONCENTRATION PER LAYER and the density of the bed is calculated based on the composition of each bed node. Does anybody know if there is a better way to take into account the bed density?
Thank you!
Julie

In the case of mixed sediments, the mean bed density can be calculated (at each point I and each layer J) as:
(MS_VASE (I,J) + MS_SABLE(I,J))/ES(I,J)
where MS is the mass per unit surface area of a layer of mud and sand, and Es is the thickness of each layer.
Good luck, Cath
