Dear everyone,

I have been modelling wave-current interaction which is a coupling model between TELEMAC and TOMAWAC. In this model, one of output parameters I want to get is the absolute peak frequency that I can see the effect of a current on the wave profile (Doppler effect).

When looking at the list of output variables in TOMAWAC, I see that I can get FPD (discrete peak frequency), but I am not sure if I am correct?

Could you please help?

Best Regards

Huy

Dear Huy,

From what I have undestood from our conversation, you have no need for FPD. FR5 (Read method order 5) should give a better fit to the measured results.

Thanks Costas,

Could you please explain a bit why?

Best Regards

According to the manual, FPD means that the peak frequency is chosen from the closest discrete value among those you have specified in your cas file, i.e. it is not free to take ANY value. If you have chosen large frequency discretization steps, then FPD could take values far away from the actual one.
As I see it, FPD is (amonmg other things) useful to asses the refinement of the defined frequency discretization and FR5 is the real estimate.
