Hello,

I have some strange behavior regarding the wave breaking close to the coast. Firstly the waves collapses in a very steep angle. Secondly the waves comes up again after it is already collapsed.

I will attach my model files here. I know the mesh is a little bad in the north, but I am not that interested in that area.

I already checked the breaking parameters but could not find any problems there.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

It would provide more information if you could attach your results file. The only advice I could provide, is to do a sensitivity analysis on timestep. Wave breaking usually requires a smaller timestep. You can also add substeps for wave breaking using the keyword NUMBER OF BREAKING TIME STEPS. Read the manual for more information regarding how to calculate the substeps required. I would set it to 3 as a starting point.

Hello Costas,

The results file is to big to attach here.
I attached two pictures which show a part of the results. I will check on the timestep.

Clemens

It looks like there is something wrong with the water elevation. I would say that the elevation zeroes where Hs zeroes. Do you have water elevation data in your results file?

No I do not have it in the results file. Will add it and check it, but can not do it before Monday. If you like to I could send you a link to the results file via PM.

Hello Clemens,
I did some quick tests and it is definitely the timestep. The following parameters yielded totally acceptable results:
TIME STEP =2
NUMBER OF BREAKING TIME STEPS =2
NUMBER OF ITERATIONS FOR THE SOURCE TERMS =1
NUMBER OF TIME STEP = 1350
Regards,
Costas
