Hi Community,

I have few questions related to punctual spectral files in TOMAWAC:

1- What are the contents of a punctual spectral file (*.spe) results?(what is being recorded exactly)

2- When looking into *.spe binary file results, I get an array size of (number of frequencies*number of directions, number of points), how are these results read? and where do these results consider different time steps?

3- Where can I find the subroutine or part of code that writes *.spe files in the TOMAWAC module?

Cheers,
Nayef

Hello

1 For each points you have selected the punctual spectrual file contains the waves density energy for each direction and each frequency.

2 The records are made every "PERIOD FOR GRAPHIC PRINTOUTS" time step.
The files contains as many variable as point you have selected. Each variable is defind on a quadrangular mesh of a disk where angle are directions and frequencies discretised on the radius

3 The subroutine that writes those results is ecrspe.f

Hope it helps

Thierry

Hello,

For the *.spe binary file results, how did you get the array size of (number of frequencies*number of directions, number of points). The problem is that i could not read the binary file as an array.

I would be very grateful for any help

regards,

OH

Hi all,

Thank you Theirry for being always helpful :cheer:

As for your questions Omar, The results array (for 1 time step) has the size of [number of imposed boundary points x (freq number x directions number)], since for each point you're recording 2D spectra. This can be checked using various tools to read and modify Selafin files, for example parserSELAFIN.py and runSELAFIN.py from the TELEMAC scripts, PPUTILS package, HR Wallingford's Matlab scripts and post-telemac plugin in QGIS. Hope this helps and sorry for the late reply.

Cheers,
Nayef
