Hi everyone,

I'm trying to implement propagation from offshore to nearshore, but the results of the wave heights are too low compared to what I expected.
My domain has one open boundary with code 544 and three closed boundary with code 222.
In the .cas file I set the spectrum for the boundary conditions to be propagated and a spectrum for the initial condition. For the latter I did two different tests, the first setting the initial spectrum with the same characteristics as the one to be propagated (same H, f, dir, ...) and the second with a low wave height (10cm) just to initialize the spectrum across the entire domain.
The results do not change much between them, starting from offshore spectrum with a height of 4.7m and a frequency of 0.102Hz, I obtain wave heights on 25m depth not exceeding 3m.
I attach the .cas file, the .cli file and the mesh.

Which settings do you think are wrong and do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
regards Andrea

Hi
Only 1 time step? event it's 3600s...
Don't have any idea of your mesh size and density but I will try with a lower time step...

Hope this helps
Christophe

Thanks for the reply, I tried attaching the mesh but I think it's too heavy. The domain is 9x5km, with a 100m wide mesh and gradually reaches 5m around the port. Ultimately there are 174772 nodes. I attach an image.
For the time step it was one of my doubts, I will try with 0.3s. The duration is too long, but I wanted to see how long it takes for the solution to stabilize.
I will try to reduce the number of frequencies and directions of the spectrum to have a simulation duration that is not too long, then if and when I arrive at satisfactory results I will also try to refine this aspect.
It's my first time with TOMAWAC and despite having read the manuals and seen the examples there are things that are still not very clear to me.

Thanks again, if you have any other suggestions you are welcome,
regards Andrea

Switching from 3600s to 0.3 s is a little bit extreme!
In a first step, I would test values like 300s or 60s and check the results...
Also with this king of mesh, you could try to run your computation in parallel if you have more than 1 processor...

Sorry, maybe I didn't explain myself well. I set the time step to 0.3 and number of time steps to 6000 in order to have a simulation duration of 30 minutes. The results are always underestimated as wave heights.

As for parallelization, I tried but it gives me the error as in the attachment. The configuration files on the PC are attached. I don't know if they are correct and/or if I need to change some settings.

Before going further, I advise you to upgrade Telemac to the latest version, which is the only one supported for assistance on the forum.
As there is a new automatic installer, maybe this will helps you to solve your parallel problem...
