Ok, then try to resize the picture manually so that it is less than 1920 pixels wide. This should solve the upload issue.

Hi, A. Weisgerber,

The 1920 pixels is to much to send and the zip file were sent and hope to be open.

Thanks

Hi Zheng,

I had a look at your figures and I'm very surprized your wave height is so low if you really imposed a 40 m/s wind! Are you sure your calculation is stabilized? Did you try different time steps?

Moreover, for these very strong winds, I think you should try a lower minimal frequency. Did you look at the spectra result file (keyword : punctual result file)?

If you do not solve the problem, I can try to have a look at your case in the next few days.

Elodie

Hi, Elodie,

Thanks for your advice and I will try different time steps later on.

May I ask two questionas, please?

1. During Mike21 SW simulation, it used Charnock parameter =0.01 for wind forcing term. which discribed as below:

For the fully spectral formulation the wind input source term is parameterized following Janssen's formulation and implemented as in WAM cycle 4, see Komen et al. (1994). For a given wind speed and direction, the growth rate of waves of a given frequency and direction depends on the friction velocity, u*, and sea roughness z0. In principle, if the sea roughness is known or assumed (e.g. the Charnock parameter zch = g.z0/u*2, may be assumed), the wind friction speed can be estimated using the logarithmic wind profile. Thus, the growth rate of waves due to wind input can be calculated. Assuming a dimensionless sea roughness (zch = g.z0/u*2) of 0.0144, this formulation was shown in Komen et al. (1994) to fit the observations compiled by Plant (1982). Note that the use of a constant Charnock parameter implies that sea roughness is not coupled with the wave spectrum in the comparison with observations shown in Komen et al.

I don't know what is keyword to discribe the Charnock parameter in TOMAWAC?

2. in my geo.slf, I used FOUND and the third value =-70, which is bottom value. but the third value is positive value in FOUND of point.geo, which is a case of turning_wind in tomawac.tar (Tutorials).

My FOUND.t3s attached.

Thanks

Zheng

Hi,

for your first question: in your Tomawac simulation, when you use the wind generation by Janssen, the default value of the Charnock constant is also 0.01, in accordance with the Janssen’s proposal. The keyword is : CHARNOCK CONSTANT as you can find in the Tomawac dictionnary. Please refer to the §4.2.3.2.1 of the Tomawac documentation for more informations about the Janssen model.

I don't really understand where is the question in your second point. Do you have a problem when you run your simulation, which can be related to your bathymetric data?
If you want to change the bathymetry in your model you can use the routine CORFON. Please refer to §8.6.1 of the Tomawac documentation for more information about this subroutine.

Moreover, it is written in the Tomawac documentation that : "the bathymetry data should preferably be supplied to TOMAWAC in the form of water depth and not of water height. If necessary, a conversion can be performed in the CORFON subroutine."

Hi, Christophe,

Have you received my result (.zip file) with wave height and wave derction yet?

Hope you give me some advice, please?

Thanks
