Hello,

I'm a new TOMAWAC user. And I try to couple TOMAWAC with T2D to represent the wave current.

So I made some test to propagate a wave into my model (Hs=3, Tp=12s, Dir=45°N). When I look the results I note some problems:

1)The boundaries South and North don't the same. I checked the bathymetry but I notice any problem with it.

2)The Hs in my boundaries is not the same that in steering file. May be I made a mistake in steering file and I have not the complet diagramm of Jonswap.

Added file (picture of Hs and Bath, steering file). "2" for coast line and "1" for wave boundary.

File Attachment:

File Name: GD.zip
File Size: 763 KB

Another question about water level in tomawac. I want a steady water level during the run so I put the keyword "INITIAL STILL WATER LEVEL". This value is used by TELEMAC for just the first step or all step of run? Should I put a water level file?

Thanks in davance.

Regards.

Hello,

the first thing that I see is that you have a boundary condition equal to 1 in the 1st column of your boundary conditions file (which gives the integer variable LIFBOR), for the points of your liquid boundary I suppose. In Tomawac, the value must be 2 in the case of a free boundary condition (ie that absorbs the whole wave energy) and 5 in the case of a boundary with a prescribed value. You have all these informations in the documentation manual of the code.

Dear Elodie,

Thanks for your answer.

According to the Manual I understand that:

- "2" is for the free boundary, like my coast line, Am I rigth?
- "5" is for my input wave boundary, Am I rigth?

For the free boundary: If I have a model like a square, so I have 4 sides, and my wave comes from West.

- North : coast line, so "2"
- West : incident wave, so "5"
- East : wave goes out the model, so "2"
- South; wave goes out the model, so "2"

Am I rigth? Sorry for the simply case.

Last question why TOMAWAC run with LIFBOR value = 1?

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

Dear Elodie,

I tried with "5" for liquid boundary and "2" for coast line. The result is more realistic.

But I have some problem with Hs in North and South. Could I decrease the Hs value along my boundaries?

Dear Romain,

why don't you use the conditions you gave in your previous post : 2 for North, East and South boundaries and 5 for the West boundary (where you impose incident waves)?
Here you impose Hs in your North and South boundaries, that's why you have these high values.

For the question about LIFBOR = 1, we could add an error message in Tomawac, you are right, but this is explained in the user manual.

Dear Elodie,

Thanks for your answer.

Now I have realistic results.

Best regards.
