Hi,
I am trying to install Telemac version V8P4 on Windows10. On first glance it looks like everything works fine: e.g. when I type telemac in the command prompt it is asking for a .cas file etc.

However, when I try to run an example file (e.g. culm) I always get a fail to run error. The full error message is in the error_culm.txt file.
Besides, when I try to run an example file containing a user_fortran folder (e.g. dambreak) I receive a fatal error, saying it does not find the fortran file condin_h.f. The full error message is in the error_dambreak_fortran.txt file.
When I try to run a telemac file on a different directory than the directory where Telemac is installed I get again a different error saying that the it could not create the outfile (resultsfile). The full error message is in the error_results.txt file.

The first (error_culm) and third (error_results) simulations seem to crash when mpexec -n is called.
The second (error_fortran) crashes even before while compiling the objects.

I already installed the same Telemac version on a more or less identical computer and it worked without any issues, this is why I am a bit confused what the error might be.
I access the computer over a remote connection, but I do not think that this should be an issue since it works with the other one I am currently using too.

Has someone a solution to this issue?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Best regards,
Jakob

Hi Jakob,

One of the errors I see is that TELEMAC is installed in C:\Program Files and TELEMAC does not handle spaces in its install path gracefully. Try creating C:\TELEMAC\ for installation.

This is a known issue and I hope that the developers will soon be able to solve this issue. It's 2024, the "Program Files" directory has existed for years and years...

Hope this helps,
André Renault

Hi again,
unfortunately I was a bit too quick and optimistic...
At least it works on one computer now, but I tried to install in on several others and always receive the error that the outfile could not be created.
The entire output is in the attached text file.
Besides the same thing is happening when I try to run a Gaia simulation...

Does anyone know a solution to this issue?

Best regards,
Jakob

Hi Jaokob,
I might have a fix for you. I was struggling with similar errors for the past 8-10 hours and ended up on this thread.

What helped me in the journey was a clean install of telemac after removing all instances of python and intel runtime libraries from my system. All of this might be applicable for you but here is the approach that worked for me.

1) Remove all instances of python and runtime libraries for intel (i had both intel fortran and intel dpc++ libraries)
2)Install the telemac tool following Renault's instruction. Make sure there are no spaces in the install directory.
3)Try running an example at this stage after successful install, make sure that the error still persist.
4)Download Microsoft MPI from the windows website (A web search will help you locate the file). I downloaded the exe and did a standard install
5) Start an instance of command prompt and type mpiexec in the command prompt, make sure the mpiexec works.
6) At this stage, telemac should run without any issue. At least this was the case for me.

NOTE: I also tried a clean install on two other windows machines, these were clean install and the machine had none of the mpi/intel libraries and after following Renault's approach, I had no issues. Please let us know how it goes. All the best.
