HI
I follow the installation steps with Python but I find this step has a problem:
One MS Windows operating system, you Have to download the msi file (self install program) Provided from the Python website for 32bit and 64bit Both operating systems. Python 2.7 is compatible with MS Windows XP, 2003, Vista, MS Windows 2008 and 7. Once installed, please make sure That Python is available to you. Just type the Following in a DOS command windows:
\> Python-V

I find
C: \ Documents and Settings \ Administrator> python-V
'python' is not recognized as internal command
or external, operable program or batch file
So I try with perl but I find a difficulty to change systel.ini I did right click but how to change I can not find the edit button?

I know... I'm trying to get this program to install on Win 7 x64, and have run into tons of problems with it.

You'd think they would make an ACTUAL installer for this program, instead of making people manually play around with environment variables and compilers. It's not that hard; Why does EVERY other program out there have an installer and not this one?

Good thing this program is free.

Dear Neil

There is already an setup program for windows which install telemac on your computer without any problem. I made It and it works on W7 64bits.
The only limitation is that I use Intel fortran compiler so if you plan to use telemac with your awn fortran programmation, the same compiler ill be required. If you just use the default version, the compiler is not required.

I think you should make the same remark for the installation of G95 on windows which is not very simple too (mingw, cygwin ...).

Dear Coulet,
Do you actually have a Telemac installer for W7 64bits based on Intel Fortran? Is there somewhere I can download it?

Pandim

Hi Christophe,
Thank you for your reply.
I have just installed Telemac following the setup.
One last question. Is there any easy way to run an example without using any interface (e.g. Kenue) but just by using (a) DOS command or (b) Visual Fortran?

I already have one of your example files (hydarulic_jump) which contains all the important files (cas, geo, princi etc). Do you know where should I place this folder in the TELEMAC directory, in order to (a) just type 'telemacV6P1 cas.txt' in the command prompt or in the case of (b) Visual Fortran to just 'Run Project'?

Thank you again for your help, I have been troubling with Telemac installation for over 5 days now..

Hello,

I would strongly advise you get the help of someone who could help you with these sorts of things. These are not TELEMAC related question.

For instance, I am sure that if you look on the Internet for how to install python, you will find your answers.

Good luck !

Sébastien.

Dear Neil,

The short answer is that we are working on an installer, which will probably see the light with v6p2 in the summer.

The longer answer is that it has to be multi-platform so TELEMAC can be run on any windows system, any linux flavours, any unix system and including variant of clusters of computers or High Performance Computing resources and all that combined with a variety of fortran compilers.

Despites its current complexity, we are pleased to se that many others are reporting successes of its installation and huuuuge benefits with running it in parallel on small multi-core processors, on small clusters and on super HPC.

Please note that we would welcome help by users and will welcome developments to the system.

Finally, TELEMAC is not only free, it is also open source and remains the mathematically superior suite of solvers.

Looking forward to the day you will think alike.

Sébastien.

Please also note that we offer customised training worldwide to any level required. Please check the contacts on this website.

For instance, we'd be happy to setup your system and train you how to do it.

Hope this helps,
