TOPIC: import xyz or dxf file in matisse

import xyz or dxf file in matisse 14 years 3 months ago #510

Hi,

I run matisse in fudaa-prepro and in windows. Unfortunately, I am not able to import any point file (xyz or dxf). Every time the same message appears: import file impossible.

I have to admit that I do not know (did not find)the real format for the xyz file, but it does not explain the problem with the dxf.

Does anyone else experience such probleme with matisse?

Hi
There is some posts on matisse problem in the forum.
To sum up:
- Check the temp directory exist in the bin directory of your Telemac installation
- Check the cp.bat file exists in the same bin directory (it was used for dxf import)
- The xyz file format is a 3 columns file
- dxf file should be V12 compatible
- When you import a file, be sure to select the appropriate type of file

If those tricks doesn't work, please post an example of the file you want to import.
Could you also precise us which program you installed.

Good luck
Christophe

Hi,

I can add to this that from my experience, Matisse doesn't accept numbers after the comma for the coördinates x and y.
I solved this problem in Matlab using the command 'round'

Hope this might be a help

Hi
For this particular point, it depends of the accuracy selected for your project and also the number of significative digits (it seems to me that Matisse only consider 7 significative numbers)

Hello,

Thank you all for the quick answers

"- Check the temp directory exist in the bin directory of your Telemac installation
- Check the cp.bat file exists in the same bin directory (it was used for dxf import)
- The xyz file format is a 3 columns file
- dxf file should be V12 compatible
- When you import a file, be sure to select the appropriate type of file"

These have been checked and are OK for me. I run telemac V5P9 in fudaa 11RC2 on windows XP environment.

I also erased the coma on x and y in the xyz file. But still, it doesnt work it keeps on saying 'impossible d'importer les donnees' either for xyz or for the dxf.

Attached, you will find the two files (xyz and dxf) I tried (simple trials).

Thank you for your care and rapidity

Regards

Hi
For the xyz file, you should replace "tab" by "space" in your file. With this change, it works on my computer
For the dxf, it works without any change but I don't have the same number of points in the project.

For the dxf, chesk the message in one of the dos windows opened by matisse. You could find sometimes an explanation of the problem

Good luck

You have to add a title row to the xyz tekst file.
Just add a first row with x y z, tab separated.
Then your file works on my computer

Allright,

No way to get import with the dxf, but it did work well for the xyz file and that's fine for me.

However, I have a doubt and it seems Sven is right...it does not take numbers after the comma for x and y. Does it mean that there is no way to get accuracy better than 1m in Mattisse? Did anyone find a trick to overcome this problem (work in cm...)?

Thank you all for the help
