Hello,

I would like to use our HPC cluster for TELEMAC simulations (Windows Server 2008 HPC). It works very well for CFD calculation but have no idea how to configure TELEMAC to make use of it.
Since the system is a 128 processor cluster, can TELEMAC make use of all the process ?

Hello Aissa,

Yes TELEMAC can. Nevertheless, computation (CPU) times may not be optimal if using all of them, depending on the number of elements per core (see scalability). Moreover, depending on the architecture of your cluster, if the nodes are not fully loaded, CPU times may sometimes be better (e.g. if your cluster is made of 16 nodes of 2 quad-core processors, by using 16 nodes of with only 6 out of 8 cores, you can get better CPU times).

Hope this helps,

Hello again,

Therefore what are the steps to let TELEMAC make use of the cluster. Knowing that I have access to a 128 cores cluster, should I use only 120 instead of 128? How can I know the optimum cpu time?

Thank you,
Aissa

Hello Aissa,

try looking at this post: Runnin Telemac -3d with python script on cluster

There are information about how to configure your systel.cfg file.

Note that all depends on the "queing" system you use. You may have to adapt your HPC script as a reault.

Hope this helps.
Sébastien.

Hello Aissa,

To run TELEMAC with python environment on cluster, Sébastien has already answered.

"How can I know the optimum cpu time?" If you have no ideas, try powers of two with all nodes fully loaded (e.g. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 and 128 in your case, just be sure that nobody else runs simulation at the same time on the same cores, but that should be managed by your cluster root).

How many elements do you have in your geometry file? Depending on the cluster, around 5,000 elements per core is around the optimal value.

Hope this helps,

Hello again,

I tried hardly to use information from the link provided by Sebourban, but it was unsuccessful ;-(. Could some, please, provide me with a systel file defined to work with win 7 x64?

Thank you,

Aissa
