Hello,

trying the first time to use the automatic installer for a master student,
I get the error shown in the picture:



Apparently the error happens before the download of the source code from the svn server..
For me it is a really cryptic error message, so I don't know how to handle it besides doing the manual installation.
Any hints?

In fact, in the automatic installer, you have 2 installers, one for the prerequisites and 1 for telemac.
In your case, it seems you encountered a problem with the first one (prerequisites).
It's hard to say where the problem comes from as the message just indicate segmentation violation

Try to run the prerequisite installer alone to check if the crash occur and when. Normally, you have to choose the installation of python, compiler, MPICH, SVN...

Dear Clemens,

I encountered this error also when using the automatic windows7 installation. In my case it happened also shortly before the source code was being downloaded.

What worked for me is downloading the source code via SVN export(Tortoise) and then compiling telemac as described here.

thank you for the suggestion.
However I want to avoid exactly such workarounds.
The primary purpose was to facilitate the installation for the students (in the classroom) by switching from the "manual" installation to the automatic installation.

Did you found which installation failed?
Sometimes this could be linked to a problem of admin rights (in particular for MPI which needs to install and run the smpd resident program)
